Doctrinal Statement

Newburgh Theological Seminary and Newburgh College of the Bible ("NTS") believes in the Word of God. NTS believes without any reservation in the inspiration of the Old and New Testaments. God's Word is without error and is God's revelation to mankind.

NTS further believes:

1. The miraculous virgin birth of Jesus Christ - Matthew 1:23
"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" [Isaiah 7:14]—which means, "God with us." (NIV)

2.  The sinless life of Jesus Christ - Hebrews - 4:15
"For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin.” (NIV)

3. The atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross - 1 John 4:10
"This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." (NIV)

 4. The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ - Luke 24:6
“He is not here, He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' Then they remembered His words.” (NIV)

 5. The Holy Trinity  - God The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit

16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.
17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3: 16 - 17

6. The second coming of Jesus Christ - Acts 1:10-11
"They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." (NIV)

7. There is a place called Heaven prepared for believers in Jesus Christ - John 14:1-4
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." (NIV)

8. There is a place called Hell for those who reject God's love in Christ - Luke 16:19-30

9. Salvation is in Jesus Christ alone - Ephesians 2:8-9
”For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." (NIV)

10. The Great Commission that Christ gave to the Church - Matthew 28:18-20
"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (NIV)

11. God is love and forgives people who come to Him in Christ - Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (NIV)

God gives people second chances, third chances, and is always faithful to forgive the truly repentant - Luke chapter 15
